The DeWALT DXIG24SEU is a 2.4 kW petrol inverter generator built for people who need dependable power they can run safely close to home. It delivers 2.2 kW of rated, continuous power at power factor cos φ 1, so the 2.2 kW is real usable watts rather than a derated kVA figure. That is more continuous power than the famous 2 kW names, and continuous power — not peak — is what keeps a fridge, a heating pump or a power tool running without tripping.

Its standout feature is a functional Carbon Monoxide Shutoff. A built-in CO sensor monitors the air and stops the engine automatically if carbon monoxide builds up, with a panel light that shows standby, CO-detected and sensor-error states.

Both — and this matters. The power factor is 1, so the rated 12 kW is exactly equivalent to 12 kVA. A generator rated at “12 kVA” with a power factor of 0.8, as quoted by some competitors, delivers only around 9.6 kW of real, usable power.

Yes, in two ways. Connect to an external ATS unit for automatic switchover, or connect to the building management system via “dry contacts” — it starts when the contacts close and stops when they open. The ATS unit is sold separately.

The guaranteed sound power level (LWA) is 96 dB, certified to Directive 2000/14/EC. This is the sound power figure required on the label of every CE-marked generator — not a distance-based loudness figure — with the unit itself housed in a sound-insulated enclosure to reduce actual noise levels. 

It is equipped with a 2-stage CO ALERT sensor with automatic engine shutdown if carbon monoxide levels exceed a safe threshold. It must still only be operated outdoors in a well-ventilated area — never use it indoors, in a garage, or in any other enclosed space.

It is designed for standby / backup mode, not continuous power supply. Continuous load should not exceed 80% of the rated 12 kW (approximately 9.6 kW sustained), and the unit should not run for more than 4–6 hours continuously.
